Operation Sindoor LIVE | Blood and water can't flow together: Modi tells Pakistan

In a televised address to the nation, PM Modi said India has only temporarily halted its counter-terrorism operations against Pakistan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Monday (May 12) that India has temporarily halted its counter-terrorism operations against Pakistan but warned that New Delhi is prepared to respond decisively to any threats.

In a televised address to the nation, Modi said, "In the coming days, we will observe Pakistan's behaviour and decide our actions on the basis of that."

The Prime Minister saluted India’s Armed Forces for its bravery. He also said Pakistan's 'nuke blackmail' won't work with India anymore.

'Not the era of terror'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asserted that this is not an era of war but not of terrorism either.

The PM said on Monday that for India to uphold peace, it must be strong, and when necessary, that strength must be exercised.

"This is not an era of war, but it is not an era of terrorism either. Unity is India's greatest strength in the fight against all forms of terrorism. Zero Tolerance against terrorism is the guarantee of a better and safer world," he said.

Modi asserted that Pakistan's military and government have continuously nurtured terrorism, warning that such actions will eventually lead to Pakistan's own downfall.

He declared that if Pakistan seeks survival, it must dismantle its terror infrastructure—there is no other path to peace.

'Terror and talks can't co-exist'

He reaffirmed India's firm stance, stating that terror and talks cannot coexist, terror and trade cannot run parallel, and blood and water cannot flow together.

"Any discussions with Pakistan will focus solely on terrorism and any negotiations with Pakistan will centre around Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)," he said.

CPI(M) questions govt's silence on tooling of Foreign Secretary

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday questioned the Centre over its silence to the online trolling of targeting Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. The Left parties also came out in support of the diplomat.

In a post on X, the CPI (M) shared an image quoting a report on Misri and his daughter being trolled online.

"Why is the government silent? Shame on the trolls," the CPI(M) said.

In a post on X on Sunday, Rajya Sabha MP of the party John Brittas called Misri "one of the finest officers" in India.

"Not surprised the way hate and hatred heaped on one of the finest officers of this nation. Vikram Misri discharged the functions assigned by the govt. If parivar handles are unhappy about the ceasefire they should turn it on their leaders who misled with their hawkish postures!" Brittas said.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) claimed that the foreign secretary is being targeted for saying "terrorists want to divide India on communal lines, and people of India defeated that with unity".

"It's clear who hates our unity and democracy," the CPI said in a post on X.

Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya questioned why Misri was being trolled for a decision taken by the government.

"Faced with relentless abusive trolling by the jingoistic RW, India's Foreign Secretary has had to protect his X handle. Why should the FS be trolled for a decision taken by the PM? Is it because he thanked the Indian people for foiling the communal design of the terrorists?" Bhattacharya asked in a post on X.

Misri faced trolling on social media in the wake of India and Pakistan reaching an understanding on May 10 to halt all military actions.

China denies reports claiming PLAF aircraft carrying arms supplies to Pakistan

Denying reports that its largest military transport plane, Xi'an Y-20, has delivered arms supplies to Pakistan, the Chinese military on Monday warned of legal action to those spreading such “rumours”.

The warning comes after the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAF) noticed a large number of information on the internet about a "Y-20 transporting relief supplies to Pakistan". The decision was announced in a report on the official website of the Chinese Defence Ministry said on Monday.

Earlier, China had reiterated its “ironclad” support to its strategic ally Pakistan.

The PLAF also posted several screenshots of photos and words that shared the incorrect information, with each stamped with the red word "rumour".

"The internet is not beyond the law! Those who produce and spread military-related rumours will be held legally responsible!" the report added.

Nearly 90% of Poonch town vacant, residents can return now: Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said that close to 90% of the Poonch town was vacant as residents left their homes due to heavy shelling by the Pakistani Army. The Chief Minister also said that since the hostilities have stopped now, the affected resident can return home.

"They (border residents) should now try to return to their homes. Eighty to 90 per cent of Poonch town is vacant. They had left their homes when shelling was taking place. Now that the shelling has stopped, they can return to their homes," Abdullah told reporters here.

The Chief Minister also said that the recent Pakistani shelling in Jammu and Kashmir created a "war-like situation" adding that the neighbouring country will continue to spread false propaganda, but the truth is already in front of the world.

Accompanied by his cabinet colleague Javed Rana, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Aijaz Jan, the chief minister on Monday reached out to those affected by the Pakistani shelling in the Poonch and Surankote areas, and emphasised the need for setting up bunkers in the region.
