Parliament debate: Jaishankar denies Trump’s claim of direct talks with Modi
There was overwhelming support for India globally, including from members of Quad, BRICS, Central Asian countries, who upheld India's right to respond, says EAM
India's military action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack marked a "new normal" in combatting cross-border terrorism with a five-point approach that included a firm response to terror acts, not yielding to nuclear blackmail and that blood and water cannot flow together, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha on Monday (July 28).
After a week of logjam, the Monsoon Session of Parliament saw a fiery debate on the Pahalgam attack and the Centre’s Operation Sindoor today. Both Houses were repeatedly adjourned amid opposition protests on the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, delaying the start of the discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Earlier today, there were fiery speeches by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and DMK MP Kanimozhi are among those set to speak in Parliament tomorrow.
Govt nod to marathon debate
After the first week of session ended up a virtual washout due to opposition protests on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other issues, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on July 25 that the Opposition had agreed to the start of a discussion on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on Monday and in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Supriya Sule hits out at BJP for trolling Pahalgam victim’s widow
"One MLA of the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, what was the language he used against Col Qureshi? What kind of trolling they did of the widow of a Pahalgam victim? They want to say everything is going fine. No, it is not. How can you celebrate when the perpetrators of Pahalgam are still free. I also want to say for the record, yes I went on delegations to different countries because of the benevolence of this government but in every country, people welcomed us saying we came from the land of Gandhi, Nehru and Indira Gandhi. This is the legacy they want to tarnish," said Supriya Sule.

Sule: No country praised India's action, only de-escalation drew appreciation
Supriya Sule said, "I headed a delegation. I want to place on record here, when we visited different countries and said everything they (govt) wanted us to, all this about blood and water not flowing together, terror and dialogue not going simultaneously, but I want to put on record that no country appreciated us for our action but we got praised for de-escalation."
"These people who today talk of Mumbai attacks and say Congress didn't do anything, I want to tell them of the hurt we suffered. When the attacks happened first, it was our Mumbai police that fought back. We never jumped in to take credit. We gave all the credit to the Mumbai police which deserved it. Just because we don't shout to take credit for things the Forces do, these people come here and say anything that comes to their mind and mislead the House."

Supriya Sule slams Tejasvi Surya for ‘insulting’ Armed Forces
NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule said, "Tejasvi Surya said Nehruji, our first PM, never encouraged the Indian Armed Forces and this is for the first time that Indian Forces are being encouraged. This is an insult to the lakhs and lakhs of our Forces who defended India from the time of Nehruji till date."
"Tejasvi Surya needs to be educated in history. When it is a matter of India, you may have your political compulsions and your small mentality, but we keep India above everything else. It was the Congress that was first to say at the all-party meeting after Pahalgam that we, all Opposition, will stand with the government in whatever it wants to do against Pakistan. People like Tejasvi Surya may have petty mindset, we in the Opposition don't. I am deeply hurt with all the false information he has placed in the House today."

Hopeful of statehood restoration during ongoing Parliament session: J-K CM Omar
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said he is hopeful of restoration of statehood to the Union Territory during the Monsoon session of Parliament, asserting that his government will raise the issue if there is no progress on it during this period.
However, the J&K Congress said they are intensifying the statehood restoration agitation from August 1 and announced a three-week programme including chain hunger strike as part of its 'Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq' campaign.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Jammu, Chief Minister Abdullah said, "Let this Parliament session pass. We are hopeful that we will get something in this session.
