Operation Sindoor LIVE I Pak violates ceasefire hours after announcement
Trump claimed to have mediated the truce
Within two and a half hours of India and Pakistan agreeing to a “full and immediate ceasefire” of armed escalation, beginning 17.00 hrs on May 10 (Saturday), several sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir have reported massive artillery shelling and drone intrusions.
A blackout has also been imposed across Jammu district, which saw the first ceasefire violations occur around 7.30 PM in the Akhnoor and RS Pura sectors. Soon after, locals from Arnia and Pargwal also reported “heavy artillery fire” by Pakistan while drones were seen zipping across the skies of Jammu city. By 7.30 PM, similar reports of ceasefire violations by Pakistan began coming from Anantnag, Budgam, Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley too.
Ceasefire announcement
Earlier in the evening Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has announced that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan have agreed to stop all firings and military action on land, air, and sea from 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The foreign secretary's brief announcement came shortly after US President Donald Trump said India and Pakistan had agreed to a "full and immediate" ceasefire after US-mediated talks.
The DGMO of Pakistan called the DGMO of India at 3.35 pm earlier this afternoon, Misri said.
"It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, and in the air and sea, with effect from 5 pm on Saturday," he said.

Govt debunks claims of India attacking Nankhana Sahib in Pak, other disinformation
The government on Saturday (May 10) debunked claims that India had launched a drone attack on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan.
"A video shared on social media is claiming that India has carried out a drone attack on the Nankhana Sahib gurdwara. This claim is completely fake," the PIB Fact Check Unit said.
Such content was being circulated to create communal hatred in India, it said.
Nankhana Sahib is the birthplace of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, and the gurdwara is a revered shrine and pilgrimage centre for Sikhs.
The government also dismissed as "fake" certain social media posts claiming that an Indian pilot ejected from his fighter aircraft in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and that a woman Air Force pilot was captured in Pakistan.
The government also debunked claims that India's power grid had been rendered dysfunctional in a cyberattack by Pakistan, and that there had been a temporary closure of the Mumbai-Delhi airline route.
"These claims are fake," the government said.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has extended the temporary closure of 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions due to operational reasons, it said.
The government also said an old video showing Indian soldiers crying was actually of youngsters from a private defence coaching centre celebrating their selection in the Army. The PIB Fact Check Unit said the video in question was uploaded on Instagram on April 27 and was not related to the Army.
The government also debunked reports in a section of foreign media about 10 explosions around the airport in Srinagar on Friday, as well as separate claims of blasts near the Jaipur airport.
"These claims are fake. Rely only on official sources for authentic information," a government official said.
The PIB Fact Check Unit also said that claims on social media about destruction of Indian army posts were false and that a video shared in this regard dated back to 2020.
"This video is old and NOT related to any activity post Operation Sindoor. The video was originally uploaded on YouTube on Nov 15, 2020," it said.

Haven't slept for 2 days: Border residents in Rajasthan anxious, yet confident in Army
A fresh wave of drone attacks by Pakistan on Friday night (May 9) made residents of border areas in Rajasthan anxious, yet their faith in the Indian Armed forces stayed strong as the forces neutralised the drones mid-air, with no harm reported.
“The way our forces destroyed the drones mid-air has boosted our confidence that the attacks from Pakistan will not harm us," Jaisalmer resident Jalam Singh told PTI.
Western Rajasthan experienced a complete blackout and sirens were sounded multiple times, particularly in Barmer, to alert residents. The first drone attack bid occurred in Jaisalmer’s Pokhran on Friday night. Then similar attempts were reported from other areas in Jaisalmer and Barmer.
However, the Indian air defense system successfully neutralised the drones mid-air, with no harm reported, which has instilled a sense of confidence and reassurance among the local population.
"We have not slept for two nights," Jalam Singh said as the Friday bid marked the second consecutive night of drone swarm attacks in Jaisalmer, all of which were successfully intercepted and destroyed by Indian forces.
His family, along with many others in the area, adhered strictly to the blackout guidelines, ensuring that not a single light was visible from any household.
"It is our duty to follow these guidelines; it's for our safety," Jalam Singh’s wife Babita said.
