Operation Sindoor LIVE I Pak violates ceasefire hours after announcement
Trump claimed to have mediated the truce
Within two and a half hours of India and Pakistan agreeing to a “full and immediate ceasefire” of armed escalation, beginning 17.00 hrs on May 10 (Saturday), several sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir have reported massive artillery shelling and drone intrusions.
A blackout has also been imposed across Jammu district, which saw the first ceasefire violations occur around 7.30 PM in the Akhnoor and RS Pura sectors. Soon after, locals from Arnia and Pargwal also reported “heavy artillery fire” by Pakistan while drones were seen zipping across the skies of Jammu city. By 7.30 PM, similar reports of ceasefire violations by Pakistan began coming from Anantnag, Budgam, Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley too.
Ceasefire announcement
Earlier in the evening Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has announced that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan have agreed to stop all firings and military action on land, air, and sea from 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The foreign secretary's brief announcement came shortly after US President Donald Trump said India and Pakistan had agreed to a "full and immediate" ceasefire after US-mediated talks.
The DGMO of Pakistan called the DGMO of India at 3.35 pm earlier this afternoon, Misri said.
"It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, and in the air and sea, with effect from 5 pm on Saturday," he said.

Russia assured support to India's fight against terrorism: MoS Defnce
Russia has assured full support to India in its fight against all manifestations of terrorism and promised to promptly fulfil military orders in the pipeline, visiting Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said on Saturday.
Seth, who represented India at the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in the Second World War, called on Russian Deputy Defence Minister Col Gen Alexander Fomin to discuss deepening military and technical cooperation.
"Russia assured that it will support us in our battle against all manifestations of terrorism and said the cooperation between the two nations will continue to advance based on existing agreements," Seth told PTI before leaving for New Delhi.
Russia promised to promptly fulfil military orders in the pipeline, he said.
Both sides agreed to enhance ties through existing frameworks and regular consultations. During the meeting, he thanked Russia for its support against cross-border terrorism.
During the visit, Seth laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
He also addressed the members of the Indian community in Moscow on Friday.
“The colder the weather in Russia, the warmer the friendship with India,” he said, observing that the month of May is supposed to be pleasantly warm, but this year it was unusually cold.
Seth said he was highly impressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin's humble nature.
“I had an opportunity to meet President Putin thrice. He very warmly greeted me and impressed me with his humble nature,” he said.
Seth was chosen to represent India at the Victory Day parade as Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Defence Minister Rajnath Singh could not travel abroad in view of escalating tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Fully support Indian military : EX Defence Minister A K Antony
Congress stalwart A K Antony on Saturday said he fully backs the steps taken by the Indian armed forces in the ongoing conflict with Pakistan.
Speaking to reporters here, the former Union Defence Minister said the central government has left it to the Armed forces to take appropriate action and he fully supports them.
"Beyond that, I have nothing more to say. I am not going to sit and discuss the action they are taking," he said.
Tensions between the two neighbours soared significantly after the Indian armed forces on Wednesday conducted precision strikes, under Operation Sindoor, targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that had cross-border linkages.
Antony said that families in Kerala of soldiers who are deployed in the border areas should be supported and comforted by the government and the local residents.
The Congress leader also welcomed the recent reshuffle in the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) leadership and said one of its main features this time was that while a senior leader was at the forefront, younger members in the party have been given more responsibilities by the high command.
Antony said that this indicates the faith and appreciation the party high command has for the leadership of the younger members.
Let the younger members rise and grow and justify the faith reposed in them by the party, he said.
Ending weeks of uncertainty over a change of guard in the Congress party in Kerala, the AICC on Thursday went for a complete overhaul of the leadership in the state, by replacing K Sudhakaran MP with three-time MLA Sunny Joseph.

Don't use air raid sirens in programmes : Govt to media channels
The government on Saturday advised all media channels to refrain from using civil defence air raid sirens sounds in their programmes other than community awareness drive.
In an advisory, the Directorate General Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards said exercising the powers conferred under the Civil Defence Act, 1968, all media channels were requested to refrain from using civil defence air raids sirens sounds in their programmes other than for educating the community.
It said that the routine use of sirens may likely to reduce the sensitivity of civilians towards the air raids sirens and civilians may misunderstood it as routine matter, used by the media channels, during the actual air raids.
The advisory came amidst the heightened tension due to the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict.
