Opposition MPs walk out over PM Modi's absence in the Rajya Sabha
Union Home Minister Amit Shah's address in the Rajya Sabha is currently underway. Taking a dig at the Congress, Shah declared, "You gave away Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, and it's our duty to take it back."
Shah also provided an update on recent security operations, stating, "The identity of three terrorists killed in Op Mahadev established Lashkar-e-Taiba’s hand in the Pahalgam attack."
Reads out PM's speech
He read out the Prime Minister's speech delivered on April 24, 2025, and said that following the PM’s guidance, not only were terrorists eliminated but their launch pad was also destroyed. He said that the government decided to end the one-sided Indus Water Treaty as Indian farmers have their rights on the Indus water.
Shah said that at least 100 people were killed and the headquarters of terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen were destroyed by the Modi government.
“I proudly declare to the world... Hindus can never be terrorists,” he said, questioning the Congress Party for filing false cases against many "patriotic religious institutions".
“The Congress never took any concrete steps for the preparation of the Indian Army. During the war with China, we didn’t even have proper clothes to wear in the cold... there was neither salt nor matchsticks, and we had a severe shortage of guns and cartridges.” Shah said, under the leadership of Modiji, the Army is equipped with modern weapons like the BrahMos missile.
Earlier, when Shah began to speak, Opposition parties protested and demanded that the Prime Minister should be present in the House. However, when the Chair refused to entertain their demand, they staged a walkout.

Congress MP questions PM Modi over Trump's ceasefire claims
On US President Donald Trump's statement on India-Pakistan ceasefire, Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi why he did not mention that Trump was 'lying'.
PM Modi spoke in Lok Sabha yesterday (July 29) and gave details about Operation Sindoor. However, Opposition parties have been questioning him about not answering about Trump's claims on ceasesfire.
"... Yesterday, the PM should have categorically said that America had no hand in the ceasefire and their President is lying. If Trump made a statement again today, then when the PM came to the House today, he should have said that the US President is lying again, and we did not agree to the ceasefire due to anyone's arm-twisting... The PM has to answer that the Indian Army does not work on someone else's orders...," Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa told ANI news agency.

Pahalgam victims' pain has become the nation’s pain: Manoj Jha
During the Rajya Sabha discussion on Operation Sindoor, RJD MP Manoj Jha said the pain of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack has become a shared national grief. “As a nation, we must collectively apologise,” he said. “If intelligence agencies had prior information, why was it not acted upon?”
Jha also stressed that a mature democracy must distinguish between criticism of the government and of the military. "After the attack, when someone tweeted that the attackers asked the victims’ religion and not caste, India wept. They (terrorists) succeeded in their intention," Jha said.
He added, “I want an India that takes pride in Col. Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh addressing the nation.”

One year since the tragedy, Wayanad victims still not properly rehabilitated: Priyanka Gandhi
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed concern that, even a year after the Wayanad tragedy, affected residents have yet to be adequately rehabilitated. She attributed the delay to insufficient funding and lack of sustained support from the Union Government.
While acknowledging that some funds were released following repeated appeals, she criticised the fact that they were extended as loans rather than grants. “This is unprecedented. People have lost their livelihoods and have no financial resources left — how can they be expected to repay loans?” she questioned.
Highlighting the continued hardship faced by her constituents, Priyanka made a heartfelt appeal to the Union Government to waive the loans. She noted the total amount involved —approximately ₹90 crore — is relatively smaller amount for the Union government.

No secret meetings in China: Jaishankar
Speaking on his recent visit to China, EAM S Jaishankar says, “We spoke with China on terrorism, de-escalation, restrictions on trade which China has imposed. No country told India to halt Op Sindoor: EAM Jaishankar
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar asserted that India had clearly targeted terror infrastructure inside Pakistan. He revealed that on May 9, US Vice President JD Vance called Prime Minister Modi, warning of a massive attack from Pakistan would happen in the next few hours.
Jaishankar asserted that Modi responded firmly, stating that any such act would be given with an appropriate response. India’s response followed, disabling Pakistan’s air defence systems and rendering several airfields inoperable.
Jaishankar said India received messages indicating that Pakistan was ready to stop the fighting, but India reiterated that any request for de-escalation must come officially through the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), Pakistan.
He emphasised that no world leader asked India to halt Operation Sindoor, and that there was no linkage of trade in any diplomatic conversations, and confirmed that no phone calls occurred between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump from April 12 to June 12.
He added that India had similar conversations with the US, EU, and Saudi Arabia on May 10, and to all, the response was identical." To everyone, the answer was the same that Pakistan must request through DGMO," Jaishankar said.
