You gave away PoK, we will get it back: Shah's dig at Congress

Opposition MPs walk out over PM Modi's absence in the Rajya Sabha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah's address in the Rajya Sabha is currently underway. Taking a dig at the Congress, Shah declared, "You gave away Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, and it's our duty to take it back."

Shah also provided an update on recent security operations, stating, "The identity of three terrorists killed in Op Mahadev established Lashkar-e-Taiba’s hand in the Pahalgam attack."

Reads out PM's speech

He read out the Prime Minister's speech delivered on April 24, 2025, and said that following the PM’s guidance, not only were terrorists eliminated but their launch pad was also destroyed. He said that the government decided to end the one-sided Indus Water Treaty as Indian farmers have their rights on the Indus water.

Shah said that at least 100 people were killed and the headquarters of terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen were destroyed by the Modi government.

“I proudly declare to the world... Hindus can never be terrorists,” he said, questioning the Congress Party for filing false cases against many "patriotic religious institutions".

“The Congress never took any concrete steps for the preparation of the Indian Army. During the war with China, we didn’t even have proper clothes to wear in the cold... there was neither salt nor matchsticks, and we had a severe shortage of guns and cartridges.” Shah said, under the leadership of Modiji, the Army is equipped with modern weapons like the BrahMos missile.

Earlier, when Shah began to speak, Opposition parties protested and demanded that the Prime Minister should be present in the House. However, when the Chair refused to entertain their demand, they staged a walkout.

India told world no talks unless Pak requests via DGMO: Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that during Operation Sindoor, several countries reached out to India to assess the seriousness of the situation and how long it might last.

He clarified that it is normal for nations to communicate in such circumstances and said India conveyed a uniform message to all that it was not open to any form of international mediation.

Jaishankar emphasised that any dialogue with Pakistan would be strictly bilateral. He added that India made it clear it was responding to a Pakistani attack and would continue to do so unless Pakistan formally requested a halt through the official Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) channel.

He also stressed that India would not succumb to nuclear blackmail, and that the onus to de-escalate lay with Pakistan.

During the Rajya Sabha discussion on Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar firmly denied US President Donald Trump’s claims of mediating an India-Pakistan ceasefire.

He stated, "Let them hear it clearly — between April 22 and June 16, there was not a single phone call between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi."

His comment was a direct rebuttal to repeated suggestions that Trump had intervened to halt military action.

TRF named as LeT proxy by UN for the first time: EAM Jaishankar

Comparing the UPA era with the current Modi government, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “We have successfully brought the issue of terrorism by Pakistan to global platforms such as BRICS, QUAD, and the UN Security Council. For the first time, a UN report has mentioned The Resistance Front (TRF), with multiple member states acknowledging its role. One member stated that the Pahalgam attack couldn't have occurred without Lashkar-e-Taiba's support; another highlighted the LeT–TRF link, and another said that the attack was carried out by TRF, which is synonymous with LeT. We've now officially recorded at the UN that TRF is a proxy of LeT and responsible for the Pahalgam attack.”

He further noted, “Even after the 26/11 attacks, BRICS meetings failed to name such terror groups. Today, the global perception has shifted — the world now recognises that India will no longer tolerate terrorism.”

Blood and water will not flow together: Jaishankar

On the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, EAM S Jaishankar said, "Blood and water will not flow together."

He pointed out that a series of terror attacks occurred in India before the Modi government came to power, and the earlier responses by previous governments shaped the World’s perception of India.

He asserted that under the Modi government, combating terrorism became a top priority.

Referring to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Jaishankar highlighted that Tahawwur Rana was brought back to India under the Modi government’s efforts.

Avoiding war with Pakistan was strategic: EAM Jaishankar

“When major terror attacks occurred, the world closely observed India’s response, which helped shape global perception,” said EAM Jaishankar, addressing criticism over the India-Pakistan hyphenation.

“Within three months, we condemned terrorism but still resumed composite dialogue. In a July 2009 meeting, we agreed that terrorism affected both countries but should not hinder dialogue — even citing Balochistan as an example,” Jaishankar said.

On the decision not to escalate the conflict with Pakistan, Jaishankar noted, “We had concluded that more was to be gained by not attacking Pakistan than by attacking it.”

He criticised the Opposition, stating, “You allowed terrorist attacks to happen and still proceeded with talks. That was a self-inflicted hyphenation of India and Pakistan. How can the world take you seriously under such circumstances?”

Objective of Operation Sindoor was to target terror infrastructure: EAM Jaishanker

EAM Jaishankar stated that the immediate resolve after the Pahalgam terror attack was to punish Pakistan for perpetrating it.

He said the objective of Operation Sindoor was to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

He further remarked that no other country in the world has suffered as much as India due to the Indus Waters Treaty.

He added that the Modi government has demonstrated that past mistakes can be corrected.

Nehru cared more for Pak farmers than those from India: EAM Jaishankar

In his speech on Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recalled the circumstances under which India signed the Indus Waters Treaty, criticising then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for what he described as appeasement politics.

“At the time, Nehru called the treaty a gesture of goodwill and friendship, but in return, India has only received terrorism and hatred,” Jaishankar said, adding that Nehru showed more concern for farmers in Pakistani Punjab than for those in Kashmir and Rajasthan.

SIR critics undermining Constitution, indulging in appeasement politics

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lashed out at the Opposition for protesting against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, accusing them of politicising a long-established constitutional process overseen by the Election Commission.

He criticised those who brandish the Constitution while undermining its institutions for political gain.

Pradhan argued that debating SIR in Parliament amounts to challenging the EC’s autonomy, which is not permissible.

He also condemned Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks on Operation Mahadev as a “shameless display of appeasement politics.

Responding to a question by Trinamool Congress MP Pratima Mondal regarding government support for medium and small enterprises in the space sector, MoS Jitendra Singh, said India’s space economy has witnessed a “quantum jump” in both space startups and space economy.
