Nehru-Congress-bashing again and again; Modi concludes his 100-minute speech
No country stopped India from acting in its defence, PM Modi stressed, replying to Rahul's remarks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted on Tuesday (July 29) that no world leader had told India to stop Operation Sindoor as he lashed out at the Congress for “importing issues from Pakistan” and said the Opposition party is joining terrorists and their masterminds in shedding tears after the victorious Indian military action.

Replying to an over 16-hour discussion in Lok Sabha on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, Modi rebutted the Opposition’s charge over US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of mediating “ceasefire”, saying he had told US Vice President J D Vance on May 9 night that Pakistan will pay dearly for any attack on India.
In his 102-minute speech, the prime minister lauded India’s military action as a “vijayotsav” (victory celebration) and told the House amid cheers from the treasury benches that he was presenting the “stand of Bharat”.
“India destroyed Pakistan’s military strength between May 9 and May 10. Pakistan now clearly understands that India’s response will always get bigger and that India can do anything if it engages in any misadventure in future,” he said, emphasising that Operation Sindoor is continuing.
What transpired that day
Modi said Vance called him up a few times but he was busy in meetings with the armed forces brass and returned the call later. “The Vice President told me that Pakistan is going to launch a big attack. I told him if this is Pakistan’s intention, then this will cost it dearly. We will respond with a bigger attack. We will fire cannonballs against their bullets.” “No world leader asked India to stop its military operation,” he said.
India has made it clear that it will respond to terror on its terms, won't tolerate nuclear blackmail and will treat terror sponsors and masterminds alike, he said.
On Trump's claim
No country stopped India from acting in its defence, PM Modi stressed, adding that only three of the 193 UN members spoke in favour of Pakistan, remarks which came soon after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi claimed no country condemned Pakistan and cited Trump’s claims to question Modi’s leadership.
Modi then turned on the Congress. The Opposition party has fallen to such a low that despite governing India for so long, it does not trust the country’s establishment and its trust is in fact guided by remote control in Pakistan, he said. Modi kept raking up Congress and Jawaharlal Nehru and blamed the party and India's first Prime Minister for many of India's ''follies''.

Congress has no 'moral right' to speak on terrorism, question the govt: Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah said that India's surgical strikes destroyed eight Pakistani air bases, obliterating their entire air defence system.
He asserted that Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes after Operation Sindoor caused no damage to India. Even when Pakistan targeted Indian civilian areas, India retaliated only against Pakistani air defence systems and military infrastructure, he said.
"Pakistan was left with no option but to surrender. That’s why, on May 10, they requested a ceasefire — and we accepted it," Shah added.
Responding to Opposition criticism over not going to war despite military advantage, Shah said, "In 1949, despite Sardar Patel’s objections, Nehru declared a one-sided ceasefire, leading to the creation of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). In 1971, we had 93,000 PoWs and 15,000 sq km of Pakistani territory — but it was returned without gaining anything in return. Why didn’t you ask for PoK then?"
He concluded, "Who are they to teach us what should have been done? They have no moral right to speak on terrorism."

Unlike Congress govt, we don't sit silently after a terror attack: Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "These days, we are witnessing many wars around the world where children and women are being killed. But during Operation Sindoor, we neutralised nine terror hubs without harming a single civilian."
He added that eight out of the nine terrorists killed in Operation Sindoor were involved in planning attacks in India during the tenure of P Chidambaram and the UPA government.
Shah also reiterated that the Indian DGMO informed his Pakistani counterpart about Operation Sindoor after the nine terror hubs were destroyed.
"This is Narendra Modi’s government, not Manmohan Singh’s, which would sit quietly after a terror attack," he remarked.

Shah defends Modi’s Bihar visit, says his speech was a 'clarion call for a crackdown on terror'
Responding to the Opposition's criticism of Prime Minister Modi visiting Bihar instead of Pahalgam after the terror attack, government sources clarified that on the day of Modi’s visit, no affected individuals remained in Pahalgam except Rahul Gandhi, as most had already left the area.
He dismissed allegations that Modi’s speech in Bihar was political, stating, "Those claiming it was a poll speech have lost their mental balance. It was a clarion call for a crackdown on terror."

Chidambaram is giving a clean chit to Pakistan: Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah slammed former Union Home Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram for questioning why it was assumed that the three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack came from Pakistan.
"This means a former Home Minister of this country is giving a clean chit to Pakistan and also questioning the reason for India attacking Pakistan," Shah said, calling it a "conspiracy to save Pakistan."
He also criticised Chidambaram for questioning the strike on terror bases in Pakistan following the attack.

Shah says Centre takes responsibility for Pahalgam attack, asks if Opposition ever did the same
Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the NIA questioned 1,055 people over 3,000 hours to finally identify the three terrorists. All three were confirmed to be Pakistani nationals, and two locals who provided them shelter have also been arrested.
Forensic reports confirmed that the bullets recovered were of Pakistani origin and were used in the Pahalgam terror attack.
While conceding that the responsibility for the Pahalgam attack lies with the government, Shah questioned whether the Opposition ever took responsibility for terror attacks that occurred during their tenure.
