Parliament debate: Jaishankar denies Trump’s claim of direct talks with Modi
There was overwhelming support for India globally, including from members of Quad, BRICS, Central Asian countries, who upheld India's right to respond, says EAM
India's military action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack marked a "new normal" in combatting cross-border terrorism with a five-point approach that included a firm response to terror acts, not yielding to nuclear blackmail and that blood and water cannot flow together, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha on Monday (July 28).
After a week of logjam, the Monsoon Session of Parliament saw a fiery debate on the Pahalgam attack and the Centre’s Operation Sindoor today. Both Houses were repeatedly adjourned amid opposition protests on the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, delaying the start of the discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Earlier today, there were fiery speeches by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and DMK MP Kanimozhi are among those set to speak in Parliament tomorrow.
Govt nod to marathon debate
After the first week of session ended up a virtual washout due to opposition protests on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other issues, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on July 25 that the Opposition had agreed to the start of a discussion on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on Monday and in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

‘This was the time to take PoK, why didn’t you?’ Sawant asks govt
"You used to give slogans of PoK leke rahenge (we will take PoK), this was the time to do it. What happened? Why didn't you take it? You said Pakistan asked for ceasefire. Fine. Why did your CDS agree? This was the time to teach Pakistan a lesson like Indira Gandhi did in 1971 but what did you do?" Sawant said.

‘You’re a failure, no one stands with you’: Sawant targets PM over ‘global isolation’
Sawant said, "This government needs to introspect. Why did not country stand with you? Why did IMF, in the middle of war, give aid to Pakistan? Why couldn't you stop it? What is your standing in the UNSC? No one speaks against Pakistan there also. They didn't call you to G7, then they called you as an invitee and there the US President didn't meet you. Later the US President told you (Modi) come here (to the White House) when the Pakistani Army Chief was also there to have lunch. You are a failure. No one stands with you."
"We are with the country, we were with the country yesterday also and will be with the country tomorrow also but what about you? Why could you not speak up against Trump when he said he forced the ceasefire?"

‘You travel the world, but didn’t visit Pahalgam or Manipur’: Sawant slams PM
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sawant said, "Before we can discuss Op Sindoor, we need to discuss why Op Sindoor was required. What happened in Pahalgam that day (April 22) that so many tourists came but there was no security? Where had all the jawans gone that day? What happened to our intelligence that day?"
"Today this government is repeatedly talking about its respect for the armed forces. What happened in Pulwama? The then Governor of Kashmir, Satyapal Malik is on record saying he asked the government for helicopter for our forces to transport them because of risk (in traveling by road) but they did not provide it. 40 of our jawans lost their lives. And today these people (govt) are talking about the armed forces."
"You talk of sensitivity? What did you do after Pahalgam? You went to give a poll speech in Bihar in English because you did not want to talk to your people but to the world. Why did you not go to Pahalgam? Forget Pahalgam, till date you (Modi) have not gone to Manipur. Do you have any shame, do you feel any hurt?"
"You say we are Vishwaguru, you travel the world, you have gone to 200 countries but not one country stood with you (when Pahalgam/Sindoor happened). You stood against Iran (during the conflict with Israel), the same Iran that gives you oil. This is your foreign policy," he added.

'Yes, the PM doesn't speak, he acts': Lalan
"The Opposition keeps complaining that the Prime Minister doesn't speak. Yes, the PM doesn't speak because the PM acts and everyone see his action. The whole world has seen the success of Operation Sindoor but the Opposition cannot see it. The Opposition is a follower of Goebbels. It keeps lying all the time thinking people will believe its lies to be the truth. It is the misfortune of this country that the Opposition is not standing with the government in its fight against terrorism."
