Parliament debate: Jaishankar denies Trump’s claim of direct talks with Modi
There was overwhelming support for India globally, including from members of Quad, BRICS, Central Asian countries, who upheld India's right to respond, says EAM
India's military action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack marked a "new normal" in combatting cross-border terrorism with a five-point approach that included a firm response to terror acts, not yielding to nuclear blackmail and that blood and water cannot flow together, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha on Monday (July 28).
After a week of logjam, the Monsoon Session of Parliament saw a fiery debate on the Pahalgam attack and the Centre’s Operation Sindoor today. Both Houses were repeatedly adjourned amid opposition protests on the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, delaying the start of the discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Earlier today, there were fiery speeches by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and DMK MP Kanimozhi are among those set to speak in Parliament tomorrow.
Govt nod to marathon debate
After the first week of session ended up a virtual washout due to opposition protests on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other issues, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on July 25 that the Opposition had agreed to the start of a discussion on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on Monday and in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

PM Modi gave full freedom to armed forces to strike back: Lalan
"When Pahalgam happened, the PM was deeply hurt. His soul resides in this country. He cut short his foreign visit and returned to India. He came back and took action. On April 24, he went to Madhubani and spoke on the Pahalgam incident. He said Pakistan will get a response beyond its imagination. Gaurav Gogoi said it was a poll speech but Modiji spoke in English because it was his message to the world about India's strong will against terror. Modiji gave full freedom to the Armed Forces to decide the time and place to hit back. The whole terror infrastructure was demolished. Masood Azhar was crying that his entire family was wiped out," said the JDU leader.

'You let terrorism flourish': Lalan hits back at Gogoi
Lalan hits out at Gaurav Gogoi, saying the Congress deputy leader did not have any word of praise for the valour of Indian Armed Forces but asked how many of our jets were downed.
Lalan asks Gogoi: "You are speaking of terror attack- was attack in Pahalgam the first terror attack? Have you forgotten of all the terror attacks that happened when UPA and Congress were in power? Entire Mumbai was under control of terrorists in 2008, how did they come? Today you are asking us questions about Pahalgam? You people gave shelter to terrorists, you let terrorism nurture. You had no strength or intent to fight terror. You only shed crocodile tears."

‘Why can’t you call out the US President?’: Banerjee questions Modi’s silence
Banerjee said, "The entire country was gung ho, everyone though this is the time we will capture Pakistan, we will bring back PoK. What happened? We were on the verge of scoring a century and the batsman turned around to walk back. Have you ever seen such a batsman? Modiji, please don't be such a batsman."
"How many times did the US President say he negotiated the ceasefire. What did Modi say? The moment the US President says this, Modiji shrinks. Why can't you stand up to the US President and say, you are lying? Why cant you dare to call out the US President?"
