Parliament debate: Jaishankar denies Trump’s claim of direct talks with Modi
There was overwhelming support for India globally, including from members of Quad, BRICS, Central Asian countries, who upheld India's right to respond, says EAM
India's military action against Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack marked a "new normal" in combatting cross-border terrorism with a five-point approach that included a firm response to terror acts, not yielding to nuclear blackmail and that blood and water cannot flow together, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha on Monday (July 28).
After a week of logjam, the Monsoon Session of Parliament saw a fiery debate on the Pahalgam attack and the Centre’s Operation Sindoor today. Both Houses were repeatedly adjourned amid opposition protests on the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, delaying the start of the discussion on Operation Sindoor.
Earlier today, there were fiery speeches by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi and DMK MP Kanimozhi are among those set to speak in Parliament tomorrow.
Govt nod to marathon debate
After the first week of session ended up a virtual washout due to opposition protests on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other issues, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on July 25 that the Opposition had agreed to the start of a discussion on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on Monday and in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Rajnath targets previous UPA regime for not giving befitting reply to 26/11 terror attack
"I want to remind this House that when India was attacked in 2008, the response that should have been given by the then government was never given. No country stood with India in solidarity then. Things changed only after Modi became PM. We proved that we will not just respond but we will respond in within their homes," said Rajnath.
The Union minister quotes Pranab Mukherjee to claim that the Union cabinet had "heated debate" in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attack on the need to response to Pakistan militarily but the government did not give the response that was required. He says the leadership of the time chose dialogue but the India of today thinks differently, it is convinced that there is no alternative to firm and decisive counter-attack and there can be no dialogue with those supporting terror. The India of today goes to the root of terror and weeds it out.

Rajnath slams previous UPA govt for accepting Pak as a 'victim of terror'
The then (UPA) government made a blunder with the Sharm al Sheikh agreement for a composite dialogue with Pakistan that looked past Pak-sponsored terror. The then government made a blunder by accepting Pakistan as a victim of terror, it was a blunder that hurt India's interests.

Those who dream of giving India a 1000 cuts need to wake up: Rajnath Singh
India wants peace but if someone attacks our sovereignty, we will retaliate forcefully. When PM Modi visited Nawaz Sharif in Lahore in 2015, it was an effort for peace but when Pakistan breached that a year later we responded with surgical strikes in 2016.
Terrorism has a language of blood and bullets, not dialogue. It has to be replied in the same way. Dialogue cannot be a response to terrorism.
Those who dream of giving India a 1000 cuts need to wake up. This is Narendra Modi's India.
